Are local "on my iPhone" notes not included in non-encrypted backups?

I recently restored a backup on my iPhone from the day before, only to find that all my notes are gone!

Everything important to me was stored on there.

I would’ve thought that by backing up all data on my iMac, Notes are safe and included.

I didn’t do an encrypted backup as I didn’t know.

Do unencrypted backups not save / delete local notes?

your issue has nothing to do with encrypted or not…

When you do a backup of your phone to your Mac or to iCloud, only those things are backed up, which are not normally synchronised anyway to iCloud. So from the backup are typically all data of apps excluded, which have a function “recently deleted”. This is for Photos, Notes, Mail, Reminder, etc… On the other side, everything is included e.g. from your system, Calender, Contacts…
