MacOS 14 iCloud not providing Mail sync option.
I have been trying to add iCloud Mail to someone's MacBook Air running MacOS 14.5 (if I recall correctly).
Under System Settings >Apple Account > iCloud > Mail when I open the Mail setting the window shows where one could create an icloud.com email address by there is no actual control toilet to create the address or to activate an existing icloud.com email address that is part of the user account's associated Apple ID.
I bypassed this barrier by logging into the icloud.com website and creating the email address there inside the current iCloud account.
- Back on the MacBook, MacOS Messages acknowledged the creation of the icloud.com email address.
- There there was no change on the MacOS iCloud Mail settings. There was no control to turn on email sync to the icloud.com email address that is now associated with the user account's Apple ID.
- I also tried adding the email address as a separate icloud.com email address in Internet Accounts but this connection also failed to complete.
The options that I see would be:
- Have the Mac sign out and sign back into its Apple account.
- Reinstall MacOS, effecting a repair of the OS.
- Upgrade to MacOS Sequoia in the hope that this will repair the email account problems.
Has anyone seen this problem before and is there another solution that I am missing?
