Why is my Facebook video audio echoing after upload on iPhone?

I had the same and found the solution: compress the video’s before you upload them, because else facebook does it with bad audio as a result…

It's not perfect, but an alternative if you don't have a video editing app is if you edit your video on your device and select the "In-Frame" audio mix, it will apply processing that can make the audio seem a bit processed but at least it gets rid of the echo when the video is posted to Facebook.

It's a decent workaround until Meta fixes their issue with Spatial Audio:

Had this same issue. I went into my camera settings on my iPhone and switched from “Spatial Audio” to “stereo” and it seemed t fix it for me.

Solved this problem on the iPhone 16 Pro Max by setting the recording to stereo and taking it off spatial audio. The problem is solved now for me and this should work for all.

Update: I used a photo editor (luma fusion) to “edit” the video even tho I didn’t change anything. Then I saved it and it had standard audio. No more echo. Still super annoying but at least there’s a workaround until meta gets with the times.

Facebook decompresses the video and audio you upload. Check your video format and audio settings in your iPhone,

iPhone > Settings > Camera > Formats > Apple Pro Res (off)

iPhone > Settings > Camera > Record Sound > either stereo or mono

I’ve had this exact same issue with my new iPhone 16 Pro Max. Just go into settings, camera, speaker and then unselect spatial audio, and just select stereo audio. This should resolve the issue. Hope this helps.

You have to load (import) the video into an app that will allow you to choose the stereo or mono audio. Apple Movies does it, Photos might, I just don’t know for certain.

I’m having the same problem! And I’m worried as I do youtube so this could ruin all my videos too :/ I’m going to try the sound on stereo going forward and hope it fixes it

Having the same issue here, sounds normal from my phone photo album but once uploaded to Facebook-almost robotic sounding with an echo!

I’m having the same. My husband also said the videos sounded that way when I air dropped some to him.

I am having the same issue. This didn’t happen with my old iPhone. Every time I upload a video to Facebook it sounds like there is a robotic echo! It’s so frustrating

Same issue here. We post videos on FB daily and it’s awful. They sound normal on the phone (16 pro max) but sound terrible on FB
