MacOS Night Shift slider is stuck on the very left (it's basically OFF)

I'm using a Mac mini M2 connected to a Samsung monitor. The night shift slider is stuck on the left side, essentially making it useless. When I move the slider and click "done", the slider defaults back to the left side. I tried restarting my Mac, updating to the latest OS, and even scheduling/unscheduling Night Shift. The problem started on macOS Sonoma, and continued after updating to Sequoia. Any suggestions?

It clearly shows that message in your screenshot.

What cable connection are you using between the M2 Mac mini and the Samsung Odyssey G9...?

(HDMI to HDMI or USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to DisplayPort)

An HDMI to HDMI connection and/or certain Samsung settings, could be tricking the Mac mini into thinking that the G9 is a TV instead of a display.
