There are many complaints already from users all over world who upgraded their phone to iOS 18 and now there phone can’t see 5Ghz WiFi network, don’t pass this blame to ISP and Wi-Fi routers. All my other devices can see and use my home Wi-Fi 5Ghz channel except my iPhone which I just upgraded to iOS 18.

Not Seeing 5GHz Network:

I. Broadcast the SSID:

Are you not broadcasting the SSID(the name of your network? If not, then it would not be seen. You’ve reset your router, and routers don’t have the security feature of not browsing the SSID on by default.

II. Use a Dual Band Router:

In iOS there is no option to force select 2.4GHz over a 5GHz WiFi network, and vice versa. I am not aware of any third-party app that would allow for this. What is broadcasted is broadcasted.

III. Go Here: If your iPhone or iPad won't Connect to a Wi-Fi Network - Apple Support

IV. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

V. Add Back the Network:

If seen…

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Wi-Fi
  3. Remove: the network
  4. Wait: 30 seconds
  5. Add: the network back

Not Seeing 5GHz Network After iOS8 Update:

A. Start with a Force Restart:

Having installed an update, it is always best to restart your device after the update has been installed.

Go here: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

B. Disable VPN:

Are you connected to a VPN? If so, disconnect from it.

C. Verify Date and Time:

Make sure the Date and Time are correct:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Date & Time

D. Contact your ISP:

When having network issues, contact your ISP, if they are leasing your this router, and you do not own it. They’d likely switch it out, if faulty.

Report this to Apple:

It may be a bug. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported it to Apple?"

So, do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of you occurrences, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
