Worth upgrading from Mac Mini M2Pro to new M4 base model?

I'm currently on a Mac Mini M2 Pro (16GB/512), and like the new M4 Minis that were announced. However, I'm unsure if there's any performance value in upgrading to the new model. I can't find a clear comparison of the two chips. Most of the ones I've found are about the iPad M4s and such and I don't know how they compare. Does anyone have some sense of how they compare and if it would be worth it?

Thanks

Until there are real units in the field and people start doing real use performance testing there is really no way to know how much better they will be versus the M2.

I would hold off until you can see some real use tests in the areas that you use your computer for if the are video editing, photo editing, 3D modeling, scientific simulations, etc.

If you are just using the Mini for the basic mundane tasks like web browsing, email, video viewing, some document creation/editing, etc. you will like get the "feel" of better performance as @hcsitas says but it will likely not be enough to really warrant getting the new M4 unless you are being crunched for RAM and need a machine with more RAM anyway.

You can only feel it: “Users will feel the performance of M4 in everything they do, from multitasking across everyday productivity apps to creative projects like video editing, music production, or writing and compiling code.” - Apple’s new Mac mini is more mighty, more mini, and built for Apple Intelligence - Apple. And return it within 14 days for full money back if feelings disappoint. Have fun!
