erased imac no startup disk to reinstall mac

Hello Community,

I accidently erased my Imac from 2021 as I am getting ready to sell but it is now not wanting to recover or install a new os as it says there is no startup disk.

I have tried making a bootable usb but it isn't working as saying its not using the GUID format.

What does that mean?

To install macOS on an erased Mac, use Recovery, or use a Bootable Installer, each as described in the related section here:

For using Recovery, I'd use Option-Command-R when booting, as that will get the most recent macOS version supported with that Mac.

For creating the bootable installer using another Mac, I'd download and use macOS 15 Sequoia to generate the bootable installer.

So to confirm, neither a bootable installer will boot locally, nor can booting with Option-Command-R summon Recovery? And you've tried both of these?

Or are you a few steps further into the install sequence? If so, how far, and which sequence?
