Apple Pencil not working with iOS 18.1

My pencil is not working with the update in iOS 18. I have the 5th generation . My iPad is recognizing the pairing but it won’t connect . I don’t have the money to replace one . The Apple advisor suggested I wait for a new update . I use my pencil for everything . I’ve tried all ways of trouble shooting . I even did forget device for the Apple Pencil and now it won’t connect at all . Apple technicians told me there is nothing they can do but I see this is a common issue and the technician suggested I buy a new one .

Hello MeekPie,

I'm sorry about this. I had a connection issue with my iPad Air M2 and Apple Pencil Pro. The Apple Pencil logo would appear on the screen, but it would not connect. These steps helped me fix the issue:

  • *Back up your iPad* (back up to a Mac, iCloud, or a PC)
  • Once your iPad is backed up, reset and erase your iPad to its factory settings:

Your Apple Pencil should pair and charge properly now. Note that I did not restore my iPad from a backup when trying this, but perhaps it will work for you to do it that way:

If the problem persists, I would be happy to go through other troubleshooting methods with you. This is the method which worked for me.

Have a nice day.
