Can I use the latest Magic Trackpad with macOS 14.6.1?

* Mac Mini M1

* macOS 14.6.1 (not likely to upgrade to Sequoia for another 6 months or so)

I am interested is getting the latest Magic Track Pad, but on the product page at https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MXK93Z/A/magic-trackpad-usb%E2%80%91c-white-multi-touch-surface it states that macOS 15.1 Sequoia is a minimum requirement. Is this just a case of Apple trying to shoo everyone up to the latest OS, or is there some technical truth in this?

I am a music producer and I have a large number of VST3 plugins, not all of which are certified as macOS 15 compatible yet!

We have users at work that are reporting issues with the USB-C Magic Mouse on Sonoma. The semi-good news is work is slowly allowing users to upgrade to Sequoia, but not all at once, as they are afraid it will overwhelm the IT department with trouble reports.

Not as many company user get the Magic Trackpad (I don't know why, as it is really a great device on the desk).

Did not notice these were new models.

And yes, a quick google search offers reports of issues with these devices on macOS versions older than Sequoia 15.1 even.

Good catch!.

I guess, we'll need to wait and see if Apple adds support for older macOS versions, or if there is some other solution to the issues with the new USB-C accessories.
