Headphones working 1 side only

I have the new I pad air. Just recently my headphones are only working on one side. All four speakers are ok without headphones, and the headphones work ok with a cable on my older i pad. I have checked accessibility/Audio /Visual, that is ok. I have also reset Bluetooth, and pairing with the phones. Finally ,I reset my i pad softly, and in General reset I pad. Nothing seems to solve the problem. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance
