iPhone rings when I’m connected to Bluetooth

When I have my Bluetooth earphones connected calls are ringing in speaker mode on phone and in the blue tooth when someone calls me. Is there a way to change this somewhere. The whole reason for the Bluetooth is so it doesn’t ring on the phone so it doesn’t disturb others. I had a 14+ and never had this issue now I have a 15+ and this is happening. Can anyone help me fix this
