Why is my Mac endlessly calculating storage space?

This is a follow up to: Why is my Mac endlessly calculating stora… - Apple Community

Since this thread is old i can't reply and help people, need to open another thread. Will not comment such requirement, we all feel the same about it.

So basically after i upgrated to Sequoya and OS asked my to login to account again that problem appeared: Mac was endlessely calculating storage space in settings->general. Reading the thread above suggested to reinstall OS.

The solution to this BUG (it is) is to log out completely from your Apple Account on mac, reboot, login to account again. Problem solved.

Please fix this bug if you are working at Apple.

I also have this problem. Logout, reboot, login didn't help. But, logging into an alternative user account did fix the issue. So, it's related to something in my primary user account, where I keep all my data and setups. Specifically, it is stuck trying to assess my Photos directory, and "System Data".

The reason I was motivated to look at this control panel, is that my SSD was mysteriously filling up. I've now discovered that the problem is discussed here: com.apple.mediaanalysisd files filling dr… - Apple Community

The system is building a huge cache folder, trying to index my photos. So maybe this is why it can't calculate the size of my Photo collection, and maybe the "System Data" includes these caches?
