How to import music from a compact disc with Apple Music app

I am confused. I have used iTunes forever but have been using the Apple Music app on a Windows 11 PC. iTunes has changed in the process, behaves way differently and now I don't know how to import music from CDs.

Is there a link to help learn how to deal with these changes? Will I not be able to import like I used to do?

You can use a third party tool such as https://cdex.mu/. Or you could install iTunes which will (when Apple Music, TV or Devices) is installed) be limited to audiobooks and podcasts, but can rip CDs and treat them as audiobooks. Once on the computer the files can be imported to Apple Music. Or you could simply uninstall the new apps and use iTunes as intended until Apple actually decide to make the new apps a suitable replacement. Right now there are too many missing features, e.g. CD import, playlist import/export, multiple libraries, scripting support, missing consolidate function, poor support of iCloud Music Library, etc.

Thank you for your help. Because I do a lot of work on my files in iTunes trying to keep a nice, clean library of all of the imported CDs of mine and others and music given to to me via USB flash sticks that require much editing of the info and the ability to import in ALAC, it seems like I have no choice but to delete Apple Music from my PC and only use Apple Music only my iPhone and iPad.

Is Apple going to bail out on iTunes?

Again, thank you for your expertise and awareness of what is. I guess I should have been more realistic about apps being around indefinitely, but I am a little upset with Apple for raining on my parade. I have become very proficient with the iTunes app after using it for a little more than 25 years and just bought an amp that works very well with AirPlay. Honestly, I can listen to almost anything I want to hear with Apple Music, but I do not want to abandon my owned music, particularly live music files of shows done by the Grateful Dead that are not available in the Apple Music realm. I got very good at copy/paste of mp3 and the m4a files into my Windows music directory where they could be added into my iTunes Library and all of the info and artwork edited and added as if they had been CD rips.

Oh well…all things must pass.

Cheers!
