Has FCP got some form of predictive or memory AI ?

I ask this because of something that happens 22 seconds into a video I made a while back.

I was intending to apply the Scene Removal Mask but the effect appears momentarily in the Viewer a second or so before I even get to the effects panel.

I had run through the process briefly before screen-capturing it but had deleted all effects.

So why 22 seconds in did it appear to "know" I was going to select the SRM?

Ian - I watched the video that you posted - very interesting! and I actually followed it through to the end, before focusing my attention around 22 seconds in.

It appears to me that to you clicked or tapped the effect, so no guessing on part of FCP was involved. The preview shown in the effects browser is perfectly normal - it shows you how the effect would look on the active clip in the timeline. AFAICT there is nothing mysterious, but maybe I missed the point.

It's puzzled me ever since I made it and I used it today to show an OP how lively the old M2 could be.

After your reply I downloaded it and examined it frame by frame and I have finally discovered the truth.

As I moved the mouse across the timeline to the effects panel, the cursor briefly traversed a section of empty timeline which displayed the checkerboard pattern which I am still not really used to seeing.

I was mistakenly interpreting that as applying the SRM but it was really just denoting a blank area of timeline. As it was only on the screen for a fraction of a second, I did not notice that I was missing from the image.
