Using the Mail app on iPhone

I want to use the iPhone Mail app only on my phone for emails. I have and use my xxx@icloud.com email id for all of my email. However I mistakenly clicked on Yes in Settings > Name > save to iCloud> Mail. Now the Mail app looks only in iCloud for email and I can’t see my emails in iPhone unless I have in internet connection. I want Mail app to stop accessing my emails on iCloud and use only on my iPhone, so I can access my emails whether I have an internet connection or not.

Just turning the Mail on Settings > Name> iCloud back to Off doesn’t work. Mail is now requiring me to set up a brand new account, see ”other” below, and the set-up isn’t working. I just want to stop Mail from going to iCloud for my mail.

Does anyone know how can do this?

You misunderstand how email works.

Email is stored on the internet and your iphone carries a copy. It is updated whenever you get an internet connection.

You chose to use xxx@icloud.com so your mail is stored on iCloud. Where did you expect it to look for your mail?

Without an internet connection you can never access email, however you set it up.

I'm not sure how many times this can be explained. The screen you showed is NOT asking you to set up a new iCloud account. It's asking you to enter the information for the iCloud email you ALREADY have.
