I accidentally removed the fingerprint ID option from my Mac Mini

I followed the steps given to another user that did the same thing.

Apple>System Settings>User & Groups.

However, there is no Lock to unlock. When I click on Touch ID & Password, I just get something to Add a User, Add a Group, or Edit account server.

I deleted the scan because it wasn't working; I have to log in every time. But it didn't give me an option to re-scan, and add fingerprints.

"PS: I do have anti-virus and a cleaning app."

That is REALLY bad, why simple. At best these are 100% worthless as they offer no level of protection or cleaning that Mac OS does not already have. Please read what Apple has to say in macOS - Security - Apple. At worst they:

  • Negatively Modify and damage Mac OS and make it appear buggy.
  • Make Mac OS act slow and appear unstable.
  • They offer ZERO benefits to Mac OS

If you are okay with a slow, unstable and buggy Mac then please leave them installed. However if you want a a fast, secure, stable Mac then uninstall per their developers instructions and never install similar types of apps again. All that your Mac needs to be secure, stable and fast is to simply keep Mac OS up to date and to restart the computer about 1x per week. Other than that please leave it alone!

BTW, do you have any of the following third party apps installed on your Mac?

       •      Antivirus Apps

       •      Cleaning Apps

       •      Security Apps

       •      VPN Apps

       •      Maintenance Apps

If the answer is "No none of these types of apps are installed on my computer." then the next step for you to do is to call AppleCare. AppleCare Contact Info is the link to use to find the phone number in your country.

I did all of that AGAIN, and same result: nothing.

When I go to "Touch ID & Password", all that I see is "A login password has been set for this user." Then, in a box, is "Change". If I click on that, it just allows me to change the password.

This began AFTER I recently updated the OS.

I contacted Support via Chat, and they had me toggle the keyboard off, wait 10 seconds, then toggle back on. It allowed me to add a fingerprint.
