Photos App Using Excessive Amounts Of Ram. . .

I'm on the latest version of Sequoia running a new M2 MAX Studio and I'm trying to import a library and the review process has blown the system up as shown below telling me it's run out of memory!

Between the constant crashing, constantly having to rebuild, faces not working and other problems, Photos has become almost completely useless!!

I thought that with the new AI features and upgrades since 10.14 things would run a lot smoother, that hasn't been the case.

If anyone else has a photo library weighing in at 4TB + I'd like to know if you've had any similar issues.

  1. Are there any photos in the library that you're trying to import to?
  2. How much memory do you have?
  3. Do you have other apps opened when trying this?
  4. How much free space is on the volume holding the importing library?
  5. Where are both libraries located? If on an external drive how is the drive formatted and. connected to your Studio?
  6. Is the library you're trying to import the 4 TB library? If so have you tried opening it with your Photos app?

The 4 TB is the largest library I've heard about in these forums.

Have you tried force quitting Photos and then reopen it to let the process proceed?
