Does the Touch ID on the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID work when paired with iPad Air M2?

I am about to purchase the iPad Air M2 and would like to use a Bluetooth keyboard with it (not a keyboard folio case). The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID looks great because the M2 Air has the Touch ID on the tiny power button, so figured the easy access on the keyboard would be worth the extra money. I have seen some reviews about iPads not working with external Touch ID and wanted to see if the newest versions of the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and iPad Air M2 has solved this?
