App Store will not load on IPhone

I get the “Cannot Connect” message from every attempt to go to the App Store on my iPhone 14. I have automatic updates chosen for my apps, but now I keep getting messages like “in order to continue using this app, you must update now”. First of all, it won’t connect (I’ve tried all the suggestions I found on line), and second should my apps automatically update? So frustrated 😩
