My iPhone 14 Pro Max stopped being able to focus when on zoom. I have restarted it. And all the normal troubleshooting. The funny thing is that it doesn’t do this inside another app like Snapchat or WhatsApp or instagram. It only does it it my camera app. It will focus on zoom when I’m video mode. Just not picture mode. Please help.

If you don’t get focus lock on the subject, the camera will default to focusing on closest object to the lens. However, if eyes are detected, the camera will assume that is the subject unless you press and hold to get focus lock.
Low light presents additional challenges for focus. But of recent, Apple seems to have overcome the majority of low light focus issues except noise.
Can you explain the steps you taking so I can try to duplicate the issue.
Turned phone on and off. Closed app. Open app. Installed latest update.
Im trying to duplicate your issue. My iPhone focuses fine. What exactly are you doing to get a blurry image when you zoom?
I zoom in on what I want to photograph and it won’t focus
It is mainly outdoor photos where there are multiple objects in the foreground
Are you pressing and holding the spot you want in focus? What magnification are you zooming to, 5X, 10X, 20X or what exactly?
Tried pressing the spot. Does it at all zoom levels
Can you share a photo at say 10X with no focus lock and one with focus lock?
