can game mode fix airplay dropouts?

I listen to Podcasts using the Apple iOS podcast app, and AirPlay to a SONOS Port or the TV directly. In both cases, AirPlay dropouts happen. It seems the stream continues on the iOS device, but I hear nothing.

Could iOS have momentarily swapped the podcast out, done something else, and then swapped it back in?

Therefore, could Game Mode overcome the dropouts? Could Do Not Disturb fix it? Or do we need an AirPlay mode specifically?
