CarPlay text messages only popping up with CarPlay up

iOS 18.1.1 (iPhone 16 Pro Max)

2021 Jeep Gladiator with CarPlay


My old iPhone 13 Pro Max would have text message notification popups when I had the Media/SXM screen up. Now with the new phone, the notifications only pop up when I have the CarPlay screen up. I have tried Announce Notifications with Siri, CarPlay (both on the phone and in the vehicle), I’ve tried turning it on in Uconnect and Bluetooth. Nothing is fixing this issue.


Ideas?
