Photos debacle after 18.1.1 update

My iPhone 15 Pro was updated with 18.1.1 the other day. Now my photos are a DISASTER! Navigating photos is no longer intuitive. I can’t find the photos I want, etc. Sounds like plenty of people have the same problem. What can be done?

Jizkid ~ The long process of applying an iOS update to an iPhone with a weak, aging battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back." Then the iOS update is mistakenly blamed for the device's unexpected behaviours.

...So that battery should be replaced ASAP and then the iPhone's functionality can be reassessed.

It is on 79%..

So closing in on replacement.

For me this does not explain, that

  • from yesterday on 18.2 siri shortcut commands worked and today on 18.3 it does not work anymore. According to Occams Razor, the most logical reason is probably the update.
  • Siri does work with other commands that are in the Home-App… that is also the answer of Siri, that it does not see the shortcut I want to have executed in the Home app… Was there a change that those shortcut commands should be in the home app? Would be weird wouldn’t it?

Cheers,

Jim

No, they’re not. I’m on holiday and have been taking photos every day. My “recents” include Sunday and then today (Friday) with no images in between.

THANKFULLY they are showing on my iPad, but those missing days are mirrors when I log into iCloud.

it’s utterly infuriating.

I spent the weekend moving all my photos to the windows 11 laptop I had planned to replace in a migration to Apple or had until 18.1.1. I am still looking for a solution. The photos color quality and detail lost in transition. Color and fatal are critical for my use. My advice is to try some options, free or short term, to test image quality. Befuddling decision by Apple.

This seems to be the right place to add my beef. I sometimes add a group of photos from my PC to my iPad by copying them to the iCloud Photos folder on my PC. Pre-update, these photos would show up in the Recents folder where I could find them and put them in an album. Now, they don’t show up in recently saved. Only some of them show up in maps despite all of them having been geotagged. And as others have noted only a few of them show up in the by day view. I’m having scroll back through the entire collection to manually find the photos. Has anyone found a workaround? The only one I can think of is to upload my photos straight to an album on iCloud.com but that is much clunkier than the iCloud folder. Thanks.
