Since the last iOS 18 update I can’t use Siri to initiate voice to text using CarPlay

Since the last update I can’t use Siri to initiate voice to text using CarPlay. When I say “Hey Siri, text John” John’s name will appear on screen, but I can’t go any further. When I use the touch screen to initiate a text, voice to text does work.
