my phone auto updated to 18.1.1 last night and when i turned it on this morning, i now dont have connection to mobile data and relying on my home internet to use the phone. Any suggestions?

Contact your carrier. They likely need to push an update to your phone.
Who’s the carrier? What’s the carrier firmware your modem is using? Please follow this path,

If this was an update caused issue, then just about everyone who updated would have a problem. They don't. You can schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar, but I'm betting they don't find anything wrong with your phone and they direct you back to your carrier. Who, by the way is famous for NOT doing their jobs and doing what they can to get you off the phone and never help you.
I’ve had the same issues and the same outcomes with dealing with carrier, Sim card working on other phones, carrier resetting network in phone, erasing phone and reloading the phone, and following the troubleshooting suggestions on Apple and on carrier provider. I’m running out of troubleshooting suggestions
I have contacted them and they have bee totally useless. They say its a device problem, and they cant help. The sim card works in other devices, so it looks like its apple update related
