Major problems with Sonoma, Horrible, what I see does not correspond to what I type

For instance; To get A; I have to type Q, to get W, I have to type Z: To get M I have to type ; And for the Figures , I have to type shift and the figure , otherwise, I get &é"'(§è!çà This is not acceptable

You seem to have the French azerty keyboard active by mistake.


Go to system settings > keyboard > text input > edit > all input sources and make sure there is only ONE item on that list, and that the name of that item is US or ABC. Use the minus button at the bottom of the list to remove French and anything else.

Does an external keyboard have the same problem? If not, then the built-in keyboard may have a hardware fault.


Also, try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference.


Also, try creating a new macOS user account. Log out of the main user account & into the new user account. Does the issue still exist? If not, then you have a configuration issue with your main user account.


You can also try booting into Recovery Mode to see if the keyboard has the same issue. If Recovery Mode works fine, then you have some sort of software or configuration issue with the system.
