Minecraft Launcher wont work

I'm using a 2020 Macbook Air and I used to be able to open Minecraft without an issue, but I haven't opened it in about a year. When I click on it it just keeps bouncing and then stops and the only thing I can do is force quit it. I've tried a bunch of different things on the internet and nothing it working. Please help.
