Does the M4 chip support UASP?

I understand that the M1 chips did not support UASP and this was why external usb 3.2 gen2 SSDs were only reaching about 70% of the expected speed. However, the M1 Pro did support UASP. I currently am using an M1 MB Air and have seen this with my 3.2 gen2 drives. They are atill running faster than 3.2 gen1 specs, thank goodness.

Now that we have Macs with M4 chips, does it have UASP support? I’m asking because I am considering buying an M4 Mini with a USB4 external SSD and would like to get the full speed benefit as well as better performance with my existing 3.2 gen2 SSDs.

So VikingOSX, have you tested USB performance on your Mini yet? I haven’t seen any discussion of this online anywhere.

No. My Crucial X9 2TB SSD is connected to my M4 Mac Mini Pro via a TB5 port using the USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable supplied by Crucial. Time Machine backups happen so quickly that I am unaware that they have occurred unless I click the TM icon on the menu bar. Otherwise, I seldom connect external USB media for other than very brief file xfer.

OCD'ing about exact drive performance is not on my radar as I am busy with other uses of the Mac.
