How can I recover my iCloud account without my old iPhone?

im trying to get into my old iPad iCloud and I know the email & password but for me to get in I need a verification but I no longer have that phone number that number is way gone and I can’t access it. I tried clicking the button where it says can’t access number but it doesn’t do anything. I just want to get old pictures back but I can’t and it’s very frustrating.

Hello,

I want to make sure your goal is is gain access to an old Apple Account that was used with an iPad?

If your old pictures are on the iPad and you have entered an incorrect passcode so many times that it has escalated you to authenticate with the Apple Account you used on the iPad, you likely have already lost the opportunity to access the pictures. Once getting authenticated you would only see an option to erase the device.

If the pictures are being stored under the Apple Account via iCloud Photos you only have a couple options left to access the account (and the pictures).

First, if you had someone listed as a recovery contact for the account, they can provide you with a code to use.

I hope this helps.

If a button isn't doing something, try using a different interface. Try signing into that account with a web browser.

If you can still sign into your account on another device you can investigate adding more ways to get a code such as multiple telephone numbers where you can receive a text or a phone call. The below is based on the section "About trusted phone numbers and trusted devices" in the article Two-factor authentication for Apple Account - Apple Support

To see, add, or change your trusted phone numbers use one of these methods:

● On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Sign-In & Security. Tap Two-Factor Authentication, tap Edit (above the list of trusted phone numbers), then enter your device passcode when prompted. Add or remove the number, then tap Done.

● On a Mac computer choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Sign-In & Security, then add or remove a trusted phone number.

● Using a web browser:

1) Go to https://account.apple.com and sign in.

2) Follow Account Security options until you find one letting you change trusted numbers,

3) Click "+" to add a new number (you may be required to verify this number).

4) If you wish to remove an old number, click "-" next to the number.

If you had set up an Account Recovery Contact ( Set up an account recovery contact - Apple Support ) you can also get a code that way.

In a situation where a non-functioning device with cellular service was the only trusted number, transfer the cellular service to another device so you can receive a verification code on the other device instead.

If you can’t sign in, get access a trusted device, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery to regain access to your account. You should consider making sure you have multiple trusted devices and telephone numbers (ask a friend or a relative).
