a month ago i changed my sim and now it says “this number is registered to your apple account but is not associated with this phone” and says my number will expire in 4 days and will switch to the temporary one i had. is there any way i can stop this from happening as the number that is “expiring” is the number i have used for years so im not sure why it is.

Have you logged in to your Apple Account since the change? Go to Settings/[your name] and Sign Out, then restart the phone and sign in. If you have not signed in, just do so now.
When you sign out it will ask if you want to save data on your phone, so you can say yes. Or you can say No, and after you log back in it will resync with iCloud. But I suggest saving it for extra security.
yes i have logged into my apple account since as i got a new phone along with the sim, when signing out of my apple will it delete any data from my phone?
