Turn Off Active Text Bubble

How can you turn off the active text bubble? I don't care to let everyone know if I've looked at my phone, if I'm texting anyone. Why would this even be a thing?!

There is no setting I'm aware of to turn this off in iMessage. As to why, we cannot offer an answer. This isn't Apple Support here. This is a user to user only forum and we users didn't have anything to to do with iOS or how it works. There are workarounds you can use. Such as start a new message as opposed to typing a response.

Otherwise, feel free to let Apple know this is something you'd like to see in a future release --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

To me, I'm not sure why this is objectionable? If you are typing on your phone, people around you know you are typing on your phone. I thought the active text bubble was more for the person you're texting with to see you are typing a response?
