I have connected an external keyboard to my iPad and had it working but now the keyboard shows the locked light on. How can I unlock it?

That usually means the caps lock is on. That means every letter you type will be capitalized without holding the shift key. Try tapping the Caps Lock key.
Your difficulty is unclear...
Are you attempting to unlock a locked iPad from an external keyboard? If so, this isn't possible; you must use the iPad's touch-screen to unlock the iPad.
Perhaps instead you are having difficulty connecting an external keyboard to your iPad. If this is the case, are you attempting to use a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard - or a wired (USB) keyboard with your iPad?
Something else?
