Folders on Finder won't expand after hovering a dragged file on top of them

The question below was asked a couple years ago and I have the same issue. I tried the suggestion that worked for the OP, as well as all other suggestions I could find, to no avail! Is there something else I can try? Am I missing something?

OP's question from 2023: "I'm trying to drag and drop files into a specific subfolder, but rather than automatically expanding after hovering with the file dragged over it, I have to physically drop on each folder. It's very time-consuming and annoying. Is there a setting or box I haven't checked?"
