Tracing notification sources on MacBook Air running macOS Sonoma

I keep getting beeps and bloops on my Sonoma MacBook. But I can't figure out WHO is issuing them. Is there a way to trace notifications? As in, I get a beep or bloop - who sent it?

"Had nothing to do with turning on or off my Mac. I was getting beeps every minute or two while turned on. I tried restarting, and that didn't fix it. What fixed it was specifically killing PowerChime."

Seems to be a misconfiguration. So,...

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback of this issue. Include how you’ve troubleshot this, and your results. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed, rates to come.  Apple with know nothing of this occurrence, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Software/Firmware Update" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Also,

Update your Mac to Sequoia, if an Option (backing up, first):

To get the latest in usage, always keep your Mac up-to-date. Back Up your Mac First:  Be certain you Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac, so that way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reconfiguration.

How to Verify Compatibly:

II. Reveal your Model:

What is the Model of your Mac? To find out...

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Click: About this Mac
  3. View: Second Line-Down

then...

Tracking Down Notification Information:

Look in your Messages app and eMails apps, and see if a time looks correct as to when this could occurred. Unfortunately, there is no app of the macOS to keep track of when a notification occurred, and from what app.

OK, I think I fixed it by killing off PowerChime. Just do this in terminal window.

killall PowerChime
defaults write com.apple.PowerChime ChimeOnNoHardware 1
defaults write com.apple.PowerChime ChimeOnAllHardware 0

Goodness knows what this is, but I think it has something to do with the Mac battery
reaching full charge. When I entered these commands, the noise stopped. How the #$%^&
this got started is beyond me. Bottom line, it's NOT a notification alert.

Everything was working FINE for months before this happened. Something, somehow got reset. I don't have anything to offer in that respect. This has been reported before, which is how I learned about the solution., It's nothing new, evidently. See here, from LONG LONG ago ... https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/282752/turning-power-chime-off

Consistent Chimes:

Plugging it in, you might bet a chime or a "boop". That would indicate that there is an issue with the charger. It would be making a noise when ever you plug in the charger --not when it reaches 100%. So, go for a new charger.

"Please read harder. It was just beeping periodically. Every few minutes. Screen would dim slightly every time it did. Had NOTHING TO DO with plugging it in or unplugging it."

To Clarify:

I'm more digging into the fact of it doing this when it makes the noises when the charge reaches 100%. You said: I guess I could ask why the **** do I need a chime when the battery reaches 100%?"

I read that these alerts happen when the charge reaches 100%, which I gather it does periodically as it charges and discharges. I'm just repeating what I read elsewhere. I have no evidence one way or the other. If anyone has any clearer explanation of what PowerChimes mean, I'd look forward to hearing about it.
