MacBook Air M1 Screen Brightness failure - Sequoia 15.2
This problem seems to have started in about the past ten days - it might be connected to the latest update:
macOS
15.2
24C101
Macbook Air M1
- After the clamshell has been closed for a while, sometimes, the display does not turn on, but remains dark. A reboot restores it.
- Sometimes I log in an the screen is so dim it is almost impossible to read. The display brightness slider is greyed out, and it isn’t possible to adjust it. A reboot restores it
- I have tried all the things suggested on-line to fix this. I have also completely restored the OS, but the problem persists.
It is intermittent. Sometimes I come back to my laptop and open the lid, and it works as it always used to. Sometimes, it stays dark.
The keyboard lights are working, so I can see it turned on.
Also, I can log in remotely from my Mac Mini M2, and it works perfectly well, despite the machine itself being dark.
There are some messages about corebrightnessd:
