Group texting issue on iPhone 13 with iOS 18.2.1

My iPhone 13 has OS 18.2.1. Before the latest update I started having a problem with group texting. I can see what others text but there’s no write capability. If I start a new thread with the same people it will let me write until someone responds then it disappears again. Sometimes it comes back on its own but it doesn’t seem to want to do that since the last update. I have MMS selected in settings. Not sure what the cause is.

I turned off the phone and then turned it back on and it seems to be working again. 😆

I'm having the same issue. Last night I deleted the group message from my phone. Had one of the members text me, and still couldn't respond. So I deleted it again and then created the group again from my own phone. That worked... for the night. Today it's back to me not being able to respond to the group.

Let me add that in addition to not being able to respond (text box missing), I also can't heart/react to a picture or message that's shared. When I hold down on the image or message, I see other people's responses, but I can't respond.

My phone is a 15 Pro Max.

I have one person in a group text that is also having the same issue. Our issue started when I removed him from the group and then added him back in. I have deleted the group message and started a new message and it still happens. Have also turned off and turned on both phones. Haven’t figured out a solution yet.

Actually the solution was temporary. So if anyone has ideas I would appreciate them.
