CarPlay Not Working on iOS 18.2.1

Hello,

Since updating my iPhone 16 Pro to iOS 18.2.1 earlier this week, CarPlay has become completely inoperable. The phone will connect to my 2017 Honda (wired or Bluetooth) and the car’s Bluetooth source will allow me to play audio, but CarPlay won’t launch at all. I tried resetting all CarPlay settings on my phone and removing all existing devices in the car’s settings, but nothing has worked. I suspect there’s a bug in this release that blocks CarPlay head units from being able to detect the phone being connected. Can you confirm if this is indeed the case, and if so, when we might see a patch to fix this?

Hello Jonny quality

Make sure that your AirPlay compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay

Again you should use this advice, there could be a bug but it won’t hurt to try this.

Make sure that your AirPlay compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay

iphone 16 pro max, doesnt work

iphone 12 does work,

both on ios 18.2.1

there is no wifi network at 70 miles an hour on a motorway.

the cars been reset, the phone has. Which means it's been restarted.

i would imagine it's an unexpected bi-product of the update for certain configs.

What car do you have

It’s a Honda. After resetting and restarting both my phone and the CarPlay head unit numerous times, mine finally launched CarPlay successfully and I’ve been good since. Super annoying that it took so long (and that nothing in my attempts changed), but glad it’s finally connecting!

Hey TigerEyes,

i think i've cracked it on mine.... (until its patched.)

deleted the devices in bluetooth AND the Car.

Then... Renamed the Bluetooth Name of the car on the control panel and repaired.

I'm back up and running and probably didnt need to factory reset my car or my phone !

OK I was able to fix mine today...... I had downloaded the update and it looks like the default was to turn the VPN on. I clicked that off and magic of magic, the carplay worked again.

So my two cents for what it is worth is to make sure the VPN is turned off.

Exactly the same for me, My other work phone works fine, iPhone 12, but my 16 Pro Max now won't work with car Play on iuOS 18.2.1 I've factory reset the car and the phone and it won't connect.
