iPhone locked status issue in Find My app

I can use my iphone and doesn't seem to be locked but when I go to find my iphone, select it, setting says my iphone is locked. When I click on the icon to make a sound, it just says pending. I tried clicking Notify when found but nothing happens. It still says locked. Also is says that my phone is offline.

Is the phone actually lost, or do you have it with you and you are trying different things?

"Lost" means that you or someone else placed the phone in "Lost Mode" using Find My.

To remove an iPhone from Lost Mode using Find My, go to iCloud.com/find, sign in with your Apple ID, select the device in "All Devices", click "Lost Mode", and then click "Stop Lost Mode" to turn it off

I provided you with the instructions above to remove the phone from "Lost", which is the short form of "Lost Mode".

The instructions are not mine.....they are Apple's instructions from their support document. Here they are again:

To remove an iPhone from Lost (Lost Mode) using Find My, go to iCloud.com/find, sign in with your Apple ID, select the device in "All Devices", click "Lost Mode", and then click "Stop Lost Mode" to turn it off.

This has worked for me in the past. If Apple's instructions still don't work for you, I am sorry but I am out of ideas. Best to make an appointment at the Apple Store so everyone will be looking at the same screen at the same time.

yes, I do. it's not locked because I can use the passcode to access. It just says locked when I go to findmyphone using the browser on my computer. I don't know if that affects anything. Maybe if I really do need to lock it won't lock it. I originally wrote the post because i couldn't use the sound to locate my phone at home but that was because I didn't accept new agreement to use icloud on my iphone yet.

Also is says that my phone is offline.

And that.....is the problem. "Offline" displays when one or more the following have occurred:

  • The battery has run down
  • The phone was powered off
  • The phone does not have an Internet connection
  • A bad guy or girl who stole your phone has placed it in a special small bag that will not allow the phone to either send or receive a message

Unfortunately, you really have no control over this at all, so all that you can do is keep checking a few times each day to see if the status of the phone has changed.

Any action that you have requested will remain "pending" until the phone has a good battery charge and a good Internet connection.
