I just deleted the tik tok app because everyone’s started working again and was going to redownload it and it won’t show up on the Apple Store to redownload even though I have a tik tok account

I deleted TikTok once I heard that it would be banned because I thought it would be it then it was announced that TikTok had been UN-banned so I went to the App Store and I couldn’t find the app to put TikTok back in the App Store for the people who deleted it since it is now unbanned

For what it's worth -- the only difference between "deleting" and "offloading" an app is the fact that offloading leaves behind the apps's user data, saved files and settings, so it's all still there when/if you redownload the app.

So, you did actually delete the app off your phone. Of course you did, because that's what freed up the space in your otherwise limited phone storage. If it wasn't deleting the app, where do you think that extra space was coming from?

I'll also say that offloading or deleting, on a daily basis, any of the apps I use, and then reacting this way when the strategu backfires, seems more insane to me.

Why did you uninstall it?

If your Apple ID is set to the US, you cannot get it back for now as it's been banned by the US Government. Apple cannot and will not go against a government mandate.

Learn to live without TikTok.

FYI - Anyone getting a new iPhone - So, my iPhone 13 Pros camera decided to stop working on 01/21. I had Tik Tok and everything was working just great. My carrier sent me a new iPhone 13 Pro, since my old one had obvious issues. Did the iPhone transfer 01/22. All my apps came back and the transfer was perfect, until my Tik Tok app decided to be FOREVER in the Black Widget “Waiting…” mode to this day, and honestly probably until they figure this out, if they ever do. Just an FYI for anyone who did have Tik Tok on their old phone, the app will NOT transfer over, even if you DID have it downloaded on your phone prior to the transfer to the new phone. All it will show is a black widget, the ghost of Tik Tok, forever in “Waiting…”.

Apps do not transfer from one phone to another. What transfers is the information about what apps you had on the old phone and which should be downloaded from the App Store to the new phone.

Apps are also not part of your backup or stored in iCloud.

for those who are wondering why you cannot download tiktok but you can use it if you have it, its because since it violated the rules, and was “banned”, its now off limits on the app store for further purchase. adding tiktok back into the app store for now would be illegal and break the terms of service from the app store and google play store, because it was identified for spying and breaking the law, so now its a private app, those who have it can use it. dont worry, you can still use it on your phone, type up tiktok.com/us-landing to use the website.

Specifically, the "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act", whose text you can find in Division H of Public Law 118–50 (118th Congress) .

This isn't an Apple or Google "rule". It's U.S. law, upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. I believe that it became law in April 2024, but that Congress wrote it so that the ban did not kick in until many months later. I believe that the idea was to give ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok a chance to divest TikTok from Chinese Government control so that TikTok would not be banned at all. But ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok did not take that opportunity.

It looks as though the legal definitions of a "covered company" and a "foreign adversary controlled application" would cover any sufficiently popular social media application or website that is controlled in a direct or indirect fashion by China, North Korea, Russia, or Iran. (This law cross-references a list of adversaries in another law.).

Because Congress wrote the law with TikTok in mind, the law also calls out ByteDance, Ltd. and TikTok by name.

And you won’t be able to because it is now banned in the U.S. Contrary to the rumor mill TikTok has NOT been unbanned and is no longer available in the Apple App Store or the Google Play store if you are an Android user.
