Sorting and labeling my photos on iMac Sequoia 15.2

I am trying to label and sort into albums my monthly photos. When I do a search for say January 2025 I don't get all my photos for the month. I get albums, memories, top results, results that don't have all my photos. I simply want to to see all my photos for January. How do I do that? thanks

As you've found, the Search field is for very general searches, and you get results with "January" anywhere associated with a picture, including from text within a picture. This can be either very useful or infuriating.

So Keith Barkley is right, Smart Albums are the way to go. You can use something like this:

You can be even more specific if you want:

Unfortunately, Smart Albums don't work for iOS or iPadOS so, if you want the results to show on an iPhone or iPad, you have to copy the pictures to a standard album.
