My MacBook Pro can't connect FaceTime to iPhone

Hi folks,

I have a MacBook Pro M2 running Sequoia 15.3 and have internet access using the Mac's WiFi connection to my iPhone 14 Plus (iOS 18.2.1)

I can FaceTime from the iPhone but when I try to FaceTime from the Mac, I get a notification on the Mac saying:

"iPhone calls not available

You iPhone is not configured to allow calls using this Mac"

I've tried the iPhone and Mac fixes suggested by Apple but no luck there. That was all about turning iMessages and FaceTime off or signing out for both devices, then power cycling both devices.

I don't understand how this is supposed to work.

I don't know what's going on and I'd really appreciate some advice.

TIA

Verify you have not turned on the application firewall...this is known to cause some issues
