Mail app on Mac OS 14.5 : connection time-out on Gmail, Yahoo mail

Since a while Mail app is not capable anymore connecting the IMAP servers from Yahoo and Gmail. It gives an error message that say connection time out. So I cannot download the mails from mail server. I can still send emails from Mail app.

I tried manual entering IMAP details but still no succes.

I tried both via a thethered 4G connection (my usual connection), via a WIFI as via ethernet cable no succes.

I have AVG and Lulu firewall installed since long time and that didn't cause the problem before. I tried connecting to IMAP with Lulu disabled and still no succes.

The advice to uninstall any fireway or anti-virus that was suggested in some other topics related to this problem is not an option for me.

Sorry missed the addendum

Re LULU Firewall. What I understand is a Two Way Firewall that can, if configured properly

Can block Inbound and Outbound Traffic to and from the Internet.

Windows-like viruses that self-replicate and affect macOS don’t exist because of the underlying UNIX Foundation and permission limitations.

The macOS operating system resides in a sealed and read-only volume that can’t be opened by users or third-party applications.

This antivirus software only protects the developers’ bank accounts and creates problems for users in return.

Mac app security enhancements are sufficient to protect computers from malware.

Adware and malware can affect computers and are often downloaded from “shady” websites or developers who inject them into downloads.

Can you log into the Web Portals of both email accounts via the web browser of your choice ?

Are the email there ?

Not to get into the usages or benefits / drawbacks of Third Party Security Software or Third Party Firewall

That is a user's choice

The Mail application is an Apple Product which they can address should a flaw within the application occurs

Using a Two- Way Firewall like Lulu and third party security software is not something Apple Owns

That said, usage of such softwares increased the chances of experiencing that which the computer is currently having

Just saying

Yes in both gmail as yahoo inbox there are both unread as read mail

On the side:

About Lulu firewall: I need to be able to block an outgoing connection for certain apps. I quickly checked the build-in firewall and it seems that I can only block incomming traffic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And about AVG : I don't know how MacOs works underneed the engine hood, but I thought have understood that the old riddle of Mac's don't need (third party) antivirus was a bit outdated. That's why I installed AVG. Would you say that I wouldn't need that?

I didn't understand why you asked to check webmail, so I thought better give a bit more(/too much) info.

Also when I started to notice the issue: the mails that I had alread read online or on my Androids phone app werent downloaded anymore to my Macbooks Mail app.

I had also tried remove the accounts and so now the old mails don't appear anymore...
