iPod support breaks iTunes

I was charging my iPod Classic yesterday and when I went to use it I noticed all of the contents had been removed. I then connected it to the computer and ran iTunes but while it launched I was unable to click on anything, not even to close the app (I had to close it from Task Manager)

After some fiddling around trying to figure out how to fix things I realised that the issue was iPod support and that uninstalling that would allow iTunes to work normally.

This does still leave me with the fact that I am unable to use my iPod without iPod support and I just got this one (after my old one broke after a decade of use).

Anyone know if there's some way I can fix that? Is anybody else out there experiencing this issue?

UPDATE: After leaving it along to think about its life choices for a pretty long while, iTunes started working again. I had to reset my iPod, which I did. Then I started adding my music back on but it would break again once in a while in the middle of it and some of the songs wouldn't properly upload onto the iPod so now I have to do it all over again in smaller chunks I guess.

I dunno. It's very annoying.
