Can folder colors be changed?

I know I can use TAGS to help sort. Can I change the color of a folder to help me establish a visual folder importance or category

Here's one method:

How to change folder color on Mac using Preview

  1. Right-click the folder you want to customize and choose Get Info.
  2. In the Info window, click on the thumbnail of the folder icon and press Command + C to copy it.
  3. Open Preview, go to File > New from Clipboard.
  4. Adjust the color using the menu Tools > Adjust Color.

Or you can find some images with transparent backgrounds on the internet and paste them into the Info pane for the folder:
