Endless computing Systema Data size

I have an iMac M1 (16Gb RAM) under Sequoia 15.3 which seems to work well. However, when I use the "space" tab in System Setting what I see at the bottom is an endless attempt to compute System Data space (see picture, it's in Italian but I think people can figure out...).

If I use Disk Utility tool this is what I see:

Should I worry about the issue of MacOS trying an endless computation of System Data size ???

This is an issue I had from day one, basically, even with Ventura.

This does NOT happen on my MacBook Air (M1, same MacOS).

Have you run Disk Utility's Disk First Aid on all connected drives?

In Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.

Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

Just a thought but I resolved the same issue by trying the advice given by another user. Log out of your Apple ID/Account then log back in. My System Data now calculates in a few seconds .

All those Items with a Red Arrow are occupy space on the drive

Suggest getting a good and large External Drive

Start moving un-needed Photos , Music, Videos and TV Shows, Podcasts, Documents etc Off the internal Drive

I have no VPN or antivirus. The issue does not appear in SAFE MODE: the space taken up by System Data is computed at about 30something GB.

http://www.binaryfruit.com/ DriveDX can tell you more about the health of a drive than Disk Utility.

Works in Safe Mode and completes it calculates ?

But not in normal mode ?

1) I did run First Aid from Disk Utility but no changes.

2) I attach below the Etrecheck Report.

3) On my MacBook Air (with only 256GB of Disk Space) I have a comparable set of files and apps (not really a clone of one another but quite similar), but I do not have the same issue: the computation of System Data is quick.
