I use Voice control assistive technology with an item number overlay to navigate my iPhone 14+. Since downloading iOS 18.3 last night, the item numbers don't appear reliably. I cannot open any of the New York Times Games, whether I try to access them through the nyt app, Chrome, or Safari. Toggling voice control on/ off doesn't help.

On my iPhone 16 Pro Max 512 running 18.3 electing on screen text and choosing speech causes the app document window, and in some case the entire app to fail. This happens consistently in Pages, Memo, Facebook, ChatCPT and other apps. It still happens when I copy and paste text or when I type fresh text.
For a while speech to text dictation did not work but the update to 18.3.1 seemed to fix that but the previous problems remain. I spent over an hour with the chatCPT bot who suggested I update from 18.3 which I did but the primary problem select text/select speak/app crash continues. the problem does not appear on my M2 tablet or my M1 iMac.
I have no more time today for the chat bot but I'll try again tomorrow. I have seen this problem listed in several areas on the internet.

I just downloaded the NYT games app to see if my Voice Control (VC) issues were the same as I've just installed 18.4 from 17.5. Alas, they're not the same issues.
However, I think I was experiencing your issue. Try this... With VC listening, go to a screen in the app where not all the VC tabs display. Then tell it to "scroll down" or "swipe right" etc which attempts the action, and then displays VC tabs for everything. Tried it on a few of the games and that seemed to do it for every screen.

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are trying to tell me.
iOS 18.3.1 is already out, supposedly to fix bugs. It does not fix this one.
iOS 18.3.2 has not solved the problem.
I marked your reply as "helpful" because I am sure it will help some people, although actually it didn't help me. I tried your suggestion in both Wordle and Connections through the nyt games app, and it didn't help in either case. Sometimes in other apps something vaguely similar has helped when the item numbers appear, say, only on the top half of the page, I can swipe the page up or down, so that eventually I can get the item numbers to appear on the idea of that I am actually interested in.
I haven't downloaded iOS 18.4 yet. From the descriptions of it, it doesn't seem to address any similar bugs, so I have been reluctant to try it for fear that the problem will only get worse. Have any of you who reported similar problems as mine moved out to 18.4?
The problem accessing the New York Times games began with the download of iOS 18.3. I don't know the number of the ios that it replaced, but the downloads were up-to-date.
