How can I resolve 'The iPhone could not be updated (75)' error during iOS update?

Iphone is stuck on preparing update screen (Apple logo with progress bar). I've done the usual force restart, the volume up, volme down, power button, and then connect to my PC-Itunes thats when i get that error "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (75). What do i do?

See this --> If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod - Apple Support (IN)

Error 9, 4005, 4013, 4014 --> If you see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your ...

Try updating iOS after each step.

  • Try to Forget the WiFi network and add it again
  • Try another WiFi network
  • Toggle sets automatically off and then on
  • Reset your network settings
  • Force restart your device
  • Remove any beta profiles, if applicable

VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the update servers.

Here are some things you can try:

Basic checks:

  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. A weak or intermittent connection can cause update issues.
  • Ensure your iPhone has enough storage space. The update might not be able to download if your storage is full. Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage and see how much space you have available. If you need to free up space, delete unnecessary apps or files.
  • Force restart your iPhone. This can clear any temporary glitches that might be causing the problem. For an iPhone 7, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.
  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Please list the steps you used to fix this problem. I have the same issue. The phone is stuck on the apple logo and isn't able to update nor restore through itunes. None of the force restart and recovery mode tricks were able to do anything. I'm even having a hard time getting my PC to recognize that a phone is plugged in (confirmed not a wire problem). I tried scouring the internet but am not tech savvy and nothing has been working so far. I'm at very tired of this problem and would really appreciate any advice.

"I have done all those options listed within the link you provided me, it still doesn’t update."

No Serial Number is seen.

Wonder if that is playing any role in this? So, rest the Mac, trying this once more. If that does not work, then log out of iCloud on the iPhone, and then log back in.

All the suggestions I got here from the community does not work.

I actually fixed mine using the 3uTools program. I don’t know if you’re familiar with it but using it, I was able to load the latest IOS unto my iPhone. You want to make sure iTunes is closed when using the 3uTools program. I will see if I can find steps on how to use online and drop it here later, if you need it.

I am not sure if this information is allowed on this platform but here goes...

What's Anti-Recovery Flash on 3uTools? - 3uTools

That link has the steps i used to restore my device. I did use the Quick Flash Mode as i did not care for the data on my phone since i have them on my icloud backup but if you are not sure if all your files and data is stored then i suggest using the Retain User’s Data method.

3uTools | The best all-in-one tool for iOS users - this is a link to download the 3uTools program for whatever OS your PC is.

*Remember to close iTunes when using this tool. For some reason i noticed an interferrance when iTunes was open while using 3uTools. You can also check the box "Close iTunes" located at the buttom-left corner of the 3uTools program.

HOPE THIS HELPS! 😉
