Greeting Card that will work with Sequoia 15.3

For years I have been using a Hallmark Studio greeting card program that worked very well.

I recently updated (upgraded) my iMac to Sequoia 15.3 and now the Hallmark program crashes.

I have checked with Hallmark and they admit to their program not working with Sequoia ( they are hoping for a patch in the future). So far I have been unable to find a greeting card program that I know will work on Sequoia. Has any one out there have a solution to this situation?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

This thread just breaks my heart.... have used this app (for YEARS through it's many versions) and love it.... have 2 cards I need to print for tomorrow morning and just discovered it no longer is compatible with my Mac (which I just updated to Sequoia. Had to give up Print Shop , PrintMaster, and all the others as they didn't stay compatible. If anyone finds a viable option - please share!! Thanks

I’m thinking of buying Swift Publisher 5. It’s in the Mac App Store, has good reviews, and gets regular updates. I found about this from users who were trying to find a substitute for The Print Shop, another old standby that is no longer for sales in the U.S. (now only available for educational systems) because of some legal issues. It also does greeting cards , invitations, etc. Many users swear by it. $20 in the Mac App Store.

Check out Cardia from Addison Software in the App Store. It does not have a catalog of images but you can find any image you want on the internet and use that. It works with Mojave all the way to the latest Sequoia and is regularly updated. And it's only for Macintosh. No Windows nonsense.

Thank you tbirdvet and Randall_2023 for your response. I don't need all the options that Hallmark provided, just a program that I can use to custom make greeting cards for grandkids and relatives.

I do want to share something I discovered which may to of some use to you.

I have saved a number of greeting cards that I produced with the Hallmark program and I have been able to pull up one of these and get some additional use from them. Using that old card, I am still able to utilize that card by changing pictures and text messages. In Hallmark's tool bar the features that still work are : open, save, print, and text. Features that don't word are: new, and graphics. Hope this helps.

Trying very hard to find a replacement for Hallmark. Just spent $49.99 for The Print Shop. Big mistake. Looking for the correct words to describe it but the most polite word that comes to mind is terrible. Hope I can get a refund but if not I learned the hard way about an inferior product.

Understand that Hallmark Card Studio has always focused on Windows users. The Mac version is simply a port of the Windows app that hasn’t been updated in years. It’s still version 22 and was last update in July 2022. It is apparently just icing on their cake. It’s not even been updated to a universal binary that supports Apple Silicon but requires Rosetta 2 to run the Intel version on M series Macs. They can’t be bothered.

All of those apps you mention are low margin. Most were targeted at Windows users and were ported to macOS almost as an afterthought. Even when it was working on the Mac the Hallmark Card Studio remained at version 22 for years with no updates or upgrades offered, just recycled templates and images.

Print Shop, on the other hand, does have a macOS capable version BUT MacKiev can’t sell it in the United States because of apparent unspecified legal issues. The app is available for purchase in the U.S. but only by verified educational buyers. So a school district can buy it but not you or me. Weird.

Broderbund has a barely functional, crude Windows port they’re selling (I bought it and regretted it).

I have some Christmas Cards from years past saved on my Mac Sequoia 15 and many envelopes that were also created using Hallmark Card Studio on a windows pc. I have discovered that I can open them and create new cards by altering the text and replacing the images with new ones!

For electronic cards, there is Jacquie Lawson e-Cards .

Someone sent me a card from there … then I decided to try it myself … now my sister is also a subscriber. Access is through a Web browser (desktop) or mobile app, so there are no issues with the service being "PC-only."
