Unable to receive incoming calls after iOS 18.3 update on iPhone 16 Pro

After completing the update to 18.3 I am not able to receive calls. They go straight to voicemail, but I can make outgoing calls.

I just finally got to a live human at Verizon. I don't know if this will solve it so she will monitor my phone for the next 3 days but she had to re-establish the connection to my phone. It was nothing I could do on my end as I went through all of Apple and Verizon's troubleshooting steps. She said that she reactivated my service on Verizon's end and at least for the last 10 minutes, it is working. No idea why the update screwed up the activation but if you have verizon, this may help you. In order to get a human from verizon, I did this:

Call Verizon: +1 (800) 922-0204

  1. Put your pin code into the automated message
  2. Say: “I’d like to speak to someone”
  3. When the automated system says, “Got it. Can you give me a little more information?” Say, “No.”
  4. You will hear: “No problem. Please wait till I transfer your call.”
  5. Real human being will pick up ASAP- it will be customer service and they will transfer you to support. Tell them you need them to transfer you to a live human in support and not some automated menu.

I will update again if it reverts back. Still having other issues since the update but at least I appear to be getting calls again and having them log as "missed" or "all" calls.

Updated to iOS 18.3.1 when it came out. Now my mom and family call it goes straight to VM. Im on wifi due to getting 2 out of 4 bars on 5G while inside my house. If i go to a website and it says that they need to perform 2FA by texting me i will not get a call or cellular text while on wifi until i turn wifi off. I can get apple to apple texts sometimes.

i swear this is happening to “prod” us to upgrade to a newer iphone.

I have a month later update: I have talked with Apple on the phone 3 times on a top tier level. I provided them code that ran in the background of my phone and they saw the calls dropped, but the claimed it was a Verizon problem. Meanwhile, Verizon blames Apple and I haven’t heard back in over a month from them as well. The best part was my call dropped multiple times while on the phone with them of course. I’m also just about to give up on Apple as well and buy another phone because it’s impossible.

It actually took me 4 days and speaking with 12 different people (3 on the phone) for them to reiterate how bad it is. They have documented everything. We have reset my esims and connections so many times it’s unreal. I have an engineer coming out to my house in the next 2 days and they hope to figure out something then, but I don’t have my hopes up…not sure what the next steps will be since me even upgrading my phone just made the problem worse. I’ll update here if they figured anything out.
