there are no microphones connected. there is a bluetooth Harmon Kardon speaker connected to the mac mini. wifi calling via FaceTime is selected on mac mini.

That can be your issue right there. How do you expect to talk to the person at the other end? The Mini does not have a built in mic.

“and select mac mini” - what does this mean exactly? When you say the call drops, do you mean it fails? Or drops during conversations? Snapshot of the fail message would be helpful.

Additionally, please verify that the settings on your iPhone and Mac are correctly set:

i phone has "calls on other devices" selected and mac mini is selected. when i make a call on my iPhone, it'll ring the number once and then drop the call, there are no conversations as it drops before connecting.

all settings on iPhone and on mac mini are correct.

i may have to use a wired set of earbuds or ear phones (if i can find one) or whatever, and disconnect the Harmon, but that's a hassle. you'd think Apple would enable use of a BT speaker with iPhone, with or without using FaceTime or Mirroring. anyway, thanks for your suggestion!

I’m not a big fan of battery-hogging BT, especially for audio and desktop Macs. Wired is technologically superior and funnily also simpler, cheaper. Use whenever possible especially with desktops.

That said, if the problem remains unchanged with wired it’s obviously not the HKs. Do update.
